Evaluation of psychological status of couples with children with autism disorder (ASD)

Autism disorders are a group of developmental neurological disorders that have limited interest and overlapping repetitive behaviors in diagnostic criteria related to communication deficits and socialization (Ganji and Ganji, 2014). Autoimmunity is a developmental disorder of the brain characterized by impaired social and communication behaviors, repetitive, and limited behaviors. The aim of this study was to compare the cognitive flexibility of couples with children with autism disorder with couples with healthy children.The research method was descriptive and causal. The statistical population of the present study included 200 couples with children with autism who referred to treatment and rehabilitation centers in Boroujerd in 1396. By non-random-accessible sampling method, 100 couples with children with and without autism disorder were selected as the sample. The standard questionnaire for cognitive and behavioral cognitive flexibility (2010) has been used to collect information. In order to analyze the data, descriptive statistical indicators such as mean and variance were used and inferential statistical indicators such as multivariate analysis of variance were used. The results showed that cognitive flexibility was different for couples and their status in these variables was lower than normal children.Based on the research findings, it is concluded that children with autism can have a negative effect on the psychological state of their parents, especially in the variable.
